How far has the Congress party strayed away from Mahatma Gandhiji's views?

1. Gandhiji was against alcohol and drugs. He recommended legislation to ban these addictive substances completely. However, many friends and partners of the Congress party today openly endorse these things.

2. Gandhiji was against foreign interference in Indian affairs. He wanted to promote Swadeshi, Swaraj, and Self-reliance. Today, Narendra Modi ji is advocating these ideas. The Congress has forgotten all of these.

3. Gandhiji worshipped cows and hated the caste system. He didn't like caste based segregation or discrimination. However, the Congress today wants to use caste as the primary criterion to dispense aid and reservations.

4. Gandhiji was against missionaries converting Dalits to other faiths. He even called Dalits "cattle-brain"– people with a lesser brain capacity than others to decide for themselves. He was wrong about it scientifically and anthropologically. Still, many Gandhians hold on to his Anti-Conversion views to date.

5. Gandhiji loved Hindi and spoke fluent Hindi. He recommended Hindi as our official national language. We know how much the Congress party loves the language of the colonizers over against our indigenous languages.

6. Gandhiji believed in the power of honesty. He sought help from some prominent industrialists in our country, but never denounced or demonized them publicly. Today, the Congress takes help from industrialists and then demonizes many of them for vote-bank gain. They lie through their teeth unhindered, and then render apologies. The credibility gap is enormous.

7. Gandhiji was a vegetarian and a prominent proponent of vegetarianism. We are aware of what Kerala's Congress workers did to mock their opposition a few years ago. They killed a cow in the middle of a street just to make their viewpoint known. It was done purposefully to hurt Hindu people's sentiments, but suited their votebank through a minority appeasement strategy.

8. Gandhiji was a proponent of non-violence and did non-violent struggle (Satyagraha). He never did violence to get his way. In contrast, today's Congress supports Hamas' violent struggle. They have no objection to repeated terror attacks in our country, and may even tolerate terrorism and despise our soldiers.
