The Law and the Kat Putli: The frequent torture of the Supreme Court by Conversion Vigilantes in Fatehpur
The UP police arrested a sexagenarian pastor and his son on Sunday “under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act.”[1] The pastors no allegedly luring Hindu women, promising them employment, money, and free education for their children.[2] They also offered household items. The pastors spoke offensively against Hindu deities and offered the complainer ₹1,100 to remain silent.[3] The Pastors visited the village often and gave the villagers images of Jesus Christ to keep in their homes. They forced the villagers to attend Sunday services and rewarded financially those who brought people into the church. If they refused, the pastors threatened them with consequences, mentally tortured them, and as a result, some people even tried to die by suicide.[4] The police seized a publicity vehicle and recovered religious literature from it.[5] What do you think?
Honestly, it looks like the fabricated domestic abuse case my Christian wife’s advocate filed against me. It seems that God is repaying some unrelated people for the torture my ex-wife’s parents inflicted on me. They wrote in their complaint that I prayed regularly, saw visions and dreams, and believed in God, a higher power controlling the cosmos. According to them, my prayer life was a sign of a mental health condition, which their Pentecostal faith condemned. Now, they must pray for Pentecostalism and its greedy pastors to get relief from Yogiji's Anti-Conversion laws. I pray that God will quickly discharge the pastors and set them free from their heavy, heavenly duties.
Incredibly, the complainer, Mr. Dev Prakash, was offered a significant sum of ₹1,100 to keep his mouth shut. I wonder how difficult it was for him to believe that ₹1,100 would be enough to keep him silent. The UP police did not see if they had added a few more ZerO's to the figure, it would have added credibility to the FIR. What is more, these pastor guys could assure employment to all those gathered –153 women– in a Yogi raj, where there is no one unemployed. Every family would at least have one cow to manage and feed their families according to Yogiji's team. Ironically, the pastors who preach about an invisible God offered Dev Prakash a Videocon TV to watch Jesus’ image daily.
The most astonishing part is that the villagers attempted suicide because the pastors told them to bring one more person every week. I am surprised that Dev Prakash, who attended the service for the first time, knew exactly all those women who had tried to die by suicide at least a few times. Some people left their homes because the pastors told them about Jesus, whereas their families were eager to make them millionaires if they stayed home, maintaining the status quo. So sad, no? We must give Dev Prakash a mobile prize for keeping track of all the events regarding the pastors ever since they started converting poor Hindus. Well, I thought Yogiji had ended poverty in UP. So, where did these guys find 153 "Poor Hindus?"
Recently, the Supreme Court had quashed many such cases registered exactly at the same location (Fatehpur district) that alleged mass conversions to Christianity. Justice Manoj Mishraji quashed five such FIRs. Justice Pardiwala wrote a 158-page judgment, opining that the FIRs lacked credible material and observed that if such prosecutions continued, it would be a “travesty of justice.”[6] What do you feel? Candidly, I feel that this FIR will also be quashed by the court, so what is the complainer’s gain? They got Bharat and UP Sarkar a bad name. Therefore, as a Bharatiya Janata Party member, I recommend that in the future, these conversion vigilantes bring some credible stuff that people can at least believe.
Otherwise, it is better to let these pastors do their work. If it is from God, we will be fighting against God. If it is not from God, they will soon wind up without all these requirements. Either way, internationally, we will not spoil Bharat’s reputation of being a multi-religious and tolerant country. Modiji celebrated Christmas at a church, gladly accepted a Bible, and requested the priest to pray. Rijijuji also gave a short gospel message and wished all Christ-followers a Happy Christmas. Many Catholics of Kerala vote for the BJP, and the Kerala unit of the BJP conducted a Christmas carol. So, unless you have a credible conversion racket case, do not approach the police, for not only will it destroy our nation’s good image worldwide, but it will also hurt our ambitions to win Kerala state.
