Suit Boot Ki Sarkar
The BJP solved only the problems of rich people, ignoring the farmers, poor and middle-class people. For instance, in the last year, the number of Indian billionaires increased from 169 to 200, and their combined wealth increased by 41% ($954 billion). As expected, Ambani tops the list, with Adani right behind him. Savitri Jindal is India's wealthiest woman, with $33.5 billion.
The poverty alleviation stunts of Modiji don't make sense to me. They are not reducing poverty but manipulating statistics by keeping the poverty line very low so that they can excuse themselves from giving subsidies to people experiencing poverty. The poverty line was 30₹ in 2013, and the prices of things were comparatively low. At the time, the dollar value was around 40₹. The poverty line now is 42₹, but the dollar is at 84₹.
In 2013, a person needed an income of less than one dollar to get a subsidy. Now, the person will need an income of less than half a dollar to avail of any subsidy. This is how Modiji lifts people out of poverty. They are putting dust in people's eyes. How can a person who couldn't live with one dollar in 2013 with a subsidy live comfortably (and come out of the poverty zone) with half a dollar in 2023?
The poverty line is @42₹, still. This means a person in India needs only half a dollar to survive extreme poverty. If a person earns more than 50 cents, they will not get any govt subsidy. That is how the Indian govt reduces its expenses for the poorest. Daily, more than thirty farmers commit suicide, unable to pay back their loans and interest. The government is so insensitive to their plight that the farmers cannot even protest peacefully in the capital against the government's anti-farmer policies.
Income disparity is affecting the commoner. Our living standards are decreasing, and expenses are increasing daily compared to our income. Many small and medium traders are fed up with Modiji's economic policies. My father is a trader. We have many problems now because of Modiji's foolish policies. First, foreign direct investment has caused big brands to compete unfairly with our Indian products. Second, GST has made our products more expensive.
Third, we are paying rent and loan interest for the days we had to close our shops due to COVID lockdowns. Fourth, the rapid rise in prices of Electricity and Petroleum products has increased our costs. To compete with hi-fi brands, we don't have any support from Modiji, who is keen to promote Indian Ambani-Adani products internationally. In return, Modiji -who knows nothing else but begging and selling everything to private parties- lets the foreign brands invest in our country without compensation.
How in the world can our traders survive this onslaught? Will he also arrest us -ordinary people- and do an ED/CBI examination? How long will this tyrant destroy the economy of this country? We remember how he ruined us with Demonetisation and badly implemented GST a few years ago. Ask anybody who is not a millionaire, a BJP worker, or a government servant. Modijis rule has destroyed our income sources. It seems Modiji's government is reduced to a pro-rich "suit-boot ki sarkar," as the opposition leader once remarked.
