Temptation, Sin, and Hyperboles of Jesus

Dear friends, temptation is not a sin. Only if we fall into temptation and do actual adultery or murder is it a sin. God will not judge us according to the hyperboles of Jesus in Matthew 5-7. If anger is equated with murder, Jesus himself would become a sinner. Jesus rebuked his contemporaries angrily and called them "fools" in Matthew 23. Dear friends, don't think that just because you had a thought to murder someone or commit adultery, you are a murderer or an adulterer. Only if you act these out physically will you be held responsible.

I say this for the hypocrites who try to equate a wet dream with adultery or homosexuality. It is a false equivalence. I say this also for those who equate righteous indignation with murder. Anger against injustice is not a sin. However, it may lead you to commit actual violence, which is a sin. Therefore, let us use fair scales. We cannot equate those who do homosexualities and sexual immoralities with single young people who get wet dreams or occasionally masturbate. God hates dishonest scales. To know more about Jesus' hyperboles, read my paper (link given below). The following is a shorter version of how I read the hyperboles.

Jesus used these hyperboles to convict the Pharisees of their double standards. The Pharisees and lawyers had exaggerated the first five commands of the Decalogue beyond its original requirement. For instance, they exaggerated the Sabbath law to such an extent that instead of rest, it brought pain. Therefore, Jesus exaggerated the other aspects of the Ten Commandments to point out to them that God doesn't require people to obey exaggerated commands. He equated anger with murder and lustful eyes with adultery to help the lawyers understand that even they cannot obey God's commands if God were to exaggerate them to such an extent.
