A Comparison of Testimonies of Christian Christians and Christians from Hindu families

I was thinking about comparative testimonies of Christ-followers in Hindustan (India). The Christ-followers from Hindu families have a testimony of tears and struggles. In contrast, those from Christian families testify about how God helped them achieve success in their worldly life. They seldom have any (real) life struggles except those they manufacture. Those who come from Hindu families are persecuted first by Hindus and then neglected by Christians. After a while, Christian pastors would blame generational curses or evil spirits for the problems of Hindu converts to Christ. With some rare exceptions, the following is the shared testimony of Christ-followers from Hindu families.

I became a follower of Jesus for eternal life. My parents, siblings, and friends abandoned me. Now, I am alone in the faith, hoping that, someday, my family will become Christian. I am involved in some gospel activities, like distributing notices of Christian meetings. I help pastors to organize and conduct meetings in my (Hindu) area. My life is bitter, but my end will be better. I do all this by Christ, who strengthens me. I hope for eternal life with Christ in the coming age. Presently, I have no money, no good reputation in my (Hindu) society, and maybe no spouse (if married, they have left me for good, or else we are still looking for a suitable alliance).

My siblings have abandoned me. I did not get my share of the ancestral property. I don't own a house. But God has promised us a hundred-fold return in the coming age. My pastors treat me as a dispensable "convert" to the Christian faith for whom they pray tearfully (apparently). I was in my twenties when I converted. I am thirty-five or forty, and we are still seeking a suitable marriage. And, so it goes for countless young souls. Their pictures are regularly presented for fund collection so that aliens can bless the church ministry. (I can show you 10-20 people I know who suffered like this).

In sharp contrast, the following is Christ-followers' testimony from Christian families. Their second name is Christian: Thomas, Varghese, Antony, and so on. That's how you identify them. They regularly testify about their twenty-year-old girl who got a spouse from America, Canada, or the UK because of their fervent prayers. The next is how God blessed their brilliant children with admission to a very difficult-to-get course in America. Only a handful got selected, and God put their son or daughter on that elite list. God is working miracles!

The next group of testimonies of these wonderful people of God is about how God blessed them with a house. When they share tearfully, you may feel it is a small one-bedroom apartment with limited supplies. They are poor and suffering. However, you are astounded when you visit their house for a prayer meeting. It is no less than a mansion. God has indeed blessed them, and now, by sharing their big building for a prayer meeting, they are becoming a blessing to the church and the nations. How great is our God...!

The final group of testimonies of Christ-followers from Christian families centers around the best employment opportunities. Most of their children are educated abroad and are now well-settled in the UK, NZL, AUS, USA, or Canada (God's five eyes to care for his Christian world). They get their visas approved quickly, perhaps because of their pedigree and Christian second names. If there are few exceptions, "they are the struggling ones in the Gulf (Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, and so on)." Their children who didn't do well in secular studies are now pastors leading their smaller congregations in the Gulf. Some of them pursue a Christian theological course in the Americas. God has blessed them. He has removed the mighty and planted their sons in their place. How awesome is our Lord...!

If you have doubts about my conclusions after 22 years of struggle to follow Christ from a Hindu family, come to my place. I will show you lives and families ruined because of "one decision" a family member made many years ago. They were tortured first by their Hindu families and then victimized or neglected by their church families. Even now, many pastors don't trust these people as genuine Christians and judge them by their appearance. If such people don't get jobs or spouses, the pastors blame it on generational curses. Dear God-man, it is not a generational curse. Your churches have failed to find suitable spouses or help them secure work after their families abandoned them.

As you treated us, so will God treat you in the coming age. –a Christ-follower from a Hindu Marwadi family.
