My Views on the Reservation Quota System

Reservation Quota System grants freebies to the undeserving. Conversely, it presents underserved, challenging lives to the industrious and meritorious general category, yet poor citizens so that they can never come up in life. Is there any other civilized country in the world that grants such freebies to people of minority religions and a lower caste? The Socialists say, "The reservation system is a payback to the injustices your ancestors did to their (OBCs) ancestors." The tyrants of Britain ruled over us for two hundred-plus years. Who will correct the injustices they did to us? Does the UK give us any Reservation seats to right the injustices they did to our ancestors?

There's no Christian quota or Jain quota, so why is there a Muslim quota in Hindustan? Pakistan doesn't even give full citizenship rights to their minorities. The Middle Eastern countries don't even give a Citizenship to Hindu people. Why are our people treated like this in our country? Reservation must never be given based on religion or caste. If financially backward people get some help, we can understand. There are many poor people in the General Category. The caste and religion-based Reservation Quota System is unfair to such people. Can unfairness bring about fairness? If people are financially backward, give them free books or tuition. Why reserve seats for them that they don't deserve on their "own merit?"

I recall an incident from my life that happened 25 years ago. I did well in my Kerala medical entrance examination. However, somebody, a Muslim who traveled with me by the same a/c coach, got the MBBS seat that, perhaps, I deserved. His rank was two thousand ranks behind mine. It is disheartening because we did not have the money to afford a management quota seat. Nowadays, many disillusioned poor students of the general category seek admission abroad or take loans at exorbitant interest to study further. Eventually, they only discover that reservation candidates get priority even in government jobs. Christian and Muslim medical schools give special priority to candidates of their religion. The poor students of the general category are generally ignored.

Therefore, I request the government to pay attention to this inequality being done to the poorer general category students. When no other country gives such special preference for their minorities or people belonging to particular classes or castes, why should we do it? Our people are oppressed in many ways across the world. We have a past when the colonial, now "The Developed West" or the "First World" exploited us. I wonder how they give themselves a higher moral standing and hold us accountable if we fail to give special treatment to the minorities of Hindustan. It is like the pot calling the kettle black. They don't need to educate us on these matters. No other country in the world does so much "minority care" financially or in terms of opportunity.

The opposition leadership, led by Rahul Gandhiji, wants to increase reservations from 50 percent to 67 percent. Such a policy would be highly detrimental to the poor students of the General category who seek higher education or equal employment opportunities. Many of these students are taking unpayable loans to get an education. They are also denied the employment they deserve. How long will such injustices prevail in a free country? Socialist parties are alluring lower caste voters using such policies. Promising Reservations and such benefits are equal to giving people money or brandy to vote for their team without looking at the more significant impact of their policies on the nation. It is cheap and insensitive. They argue that they want to bring justice. But can they bring justice through unfair means?
