For, it is no longer Socialism versus Capitalism, but Terrorism versus Development
In an age of Terrorism (Freedom Fighting) and Andh bhakti (Development Politics), redundant socialist movements like Congress and Communists still feel relevant. While a young man is trying to save his great-grandpa’s political legacy, a senior citizen keeps the national interest first and takes the nation forward. Between all this uproar, a retiring prince of Kerala is returning from Delhi to participate in the inauguration of a project with many fathers –all claiming to be legitimate. His flight got delayed, and people are still wondering who did it –the Terrorist, the Andh Bhakt, or the Communist, who is fighting for his survival.
Many years ago, somebody told me, “Jesus was a socialist because he shared what he had with others.” I replied, “No. Jesus was a capitalist because he shared with others what he owned. Socialists share what others own.” The ultimate capitalists, Ambani and Adani, laugh at the way people deceive themselves into believing that Reliance and Adani shares are their property. Ambani-Adani shares their profits with their shareholders, but “they’re wrong still,” says the Socialist. Socialism failed even BSNL. Still, many Malayalis trust the slogan “Long live socialism.”
If the socialists continue to appoint workers looking at their castes –disregarding their merit– and giving them undeserved reservations, things won’t improve. The workers won’t work; even if they work, their quality won’t match the meritorious students. In the past, many people used to complain of brain drain. Guess who is the culprit? If meritorious people don't find opportunities in their homeland, they will seek options abroad. Besides, Corporates will use hardworking and meritorious general-category students, whom the socialists disregard and disqualify based on their caste identity. The end result would be the difference between BSNL and Reliance. In terms of countries, the difference would be between Singapore and India. Both countries got freedom from the British almost simultaneously. Singapore prospered, and India declined.
Today, Modiji is trying to correct past mistakes. However, his NDA partners threaten Modiji by promising more caste-based reservations to preserve their vote bank. If the Christian and Tribal North East India can join the NDA, why can’t Kerala follow Modiji’s development agenda? For, our infrastructure needs to develop. Without a strong infrastructure, our state will reach nowhere. Our cities, ports, airports, roads, streets, and schools need a revamp. For instance, we need more trains, better compartments in every train, and more general compartments. The air-conditioned compartments need to be world-class. Kerala’s wealthy professionals, NRIs, and traders can afford anything. People need better facilities. Increase the number of general compartments for the poor.
Moreover, our roads are narrow, and there are too many vehicles. We need broader roads and flyovers. VDF and VDF focus only on giving away freebies, reservations, and minority rights. They have failed Kerala badly. We lag behind even Tamil Nadu in infrastructure. The socialists gave us pothole-filled roads, unclean streets, and higher energy prices (petroleum and electricity). For instance, my clinic is on P.M.Taj Road, in the center of Calicut, near S.M. Street. But the government has not repaired the road in the last five years. There are potholes of all sizes and shapes on the road: pig-sized, dog-sized, and human-sized. When it rains, these potholes become water-logged accident traps for two-wheelers. Despite repeated complaints by the locals, no one has turned up to repair the road.
