Live in Love, Live in the Present
God created people in his image. Many scholars interpret the idea of the image as representing the Spirit since God is a Spiritual being. Even so, I think a more accurate interpretation is God created people in the image of love since God is love. Besides, God created people with love. Again, God created people to love one another. Further, love is the only sign that identifies people as Jesus' disciples (John 13:35). Therefore, love is God's image, command, purpose, and the sign of Jesus' discipleship.
Love without holiness is no love. And, holiness without love is no holiness. Those who love God keep his commandments. They love others so they don't steal, kill, rape, testify falsely, or covet others' belongings. Those who love God would not represent the living and loving God with dead idols. They wouldn't take his name in vain or desecrate his worship. God-worshippers would honor their parents and not dishonor them. I know a person who I love much, but I hate his sin. His name is Manoj Kumar Khatore.
We don't know when we will die or for how long we will live. But until then, God empowers us by His Holy Spirit to love others and love him more than anything else. Therefore, instead of wasting our time worrying about the future that is yet to come or being depressed about the past that we cannot change, let's live in the present in God's love. May God help us to serve, share, care, and give in love. Therefore, let us dedicate ourselves to loving others wholeheartedly in the present until Christ returns.
Moreover, if we do so, God has promised us an everlasting, immortal, imperishable, incorruptible, yet physical body in the coming age after Christ returns. We may not become billionaires or enjoy abundant worldly pleasures in this life. Still, we will not be disappointed if we can give our friends good memories by being the salt of the earth and the light of the world. A little salt can make things delicious, and a spark of love can drive out the darkness of hatred. We can make a difference to others' life experiences and also inherit eternal life.
