The Poem and the Poem-Writer: Good news is When Good Meets Good
Titled "The Poem and the Poem-Writer: When Good Meets Good, it is Good news," this lyrical piece explores the transformative power of divine love and spiritual surrender. It blends Pauline theology with intimate devotion, using vivid imagery—such as an ice cream melting in a Coke float—to describe the soul's union with its Creator. The poem ultimately portrays believers as God's living poetry, called to live out love, forgiveness, and active blessing in a broken world.
The Poem:
Oh, what beauty it is to be grasped by love only,
When love draws near,
Losing all fear, anxiety, and foresight,
Trusting in the Beloved,
Laying down one's being
Fully into their arms, fearlessly.
Action or confirmation bias doesn't exist
In a world where love means humble submission
To the All-loving one.
Mighty he is, but gentle and tender
With those who lean on him.
Stress has no place, strain is replaced,
Suspicion cannot reign in that interface
Where devotee meets His loving deity—
Like an ice cream that melts away in coke
In a Coke float, I call it I-scream-soda.
Nothing can separate us from his love,
Said Paul when he grasped the mystery.
The Killer Torah that once affirmed the curse of death
By condemning sinful humanity
Has now become a Loyal Torah
That removes the stench of death permanently.
It happened by two things:
God punished sin in his Son's body,
And He gave the Holy Spirit to indwell our body.
Both ideas existed simultaneous in Moses' Torah
When he mentioned Abraham's blessing
That will remove the curse of death,
Bringing to light immortality.
Like a plant outgrowing a seed,
Unveiling its innermost plan sequentially—
The stump, branches, leaves,
Culminating in delicious fruit,
Nourishing living beings,
Spreading its seed-plan far and wide,
Even to the ends of the earth.
The seed-plan existed from the start,
Though only in due time it was unveiled
When God sent his son Ιησους to bring it to pass.
Oh, what beauty it is to be grasped by love only,
When love draws near,
Losing all fear, anxiety, and foresight,
Trusting in the Beloved,
Laying down one's being
Fully into their arms, fearlessly.
Action or confirmation bias doesn't exist
In a world where love means humble submission
To the All-loving one.
Mighty he is, but gentle and tender
With those who lean on him.
Stress has no place, strain is replaced,
Suspicion cannot reign in that interface
Where devotee meets His loving deity—
Like an ice cream that melts away in coke
In a Coke float, I call it I-scream-soda.
The condemnation you and I deserved,
He took it in our place so our sins are forgiven.
God could place His Spirit in our beings,
Sanctified by his blood that lifted the death smell,
And imparted life's fragrance by his blood.
Death, decay, he lifted away as he overcame
These by his life, lifting himself from the grave.
All hate, hurt, humiliation, or harassment
Couldn't still his Spirit,
Nor could they stop Him from loving his Bride.
As the Lord's son, the Lord himself
Lifted himself into Heaven's space.
Forgiving Israel first from the painful cross,
Then handing himself as the Israel of God
Into his father's hand.
Oh, what beauty it is to be grasped by love only,
When love draws near,
Losing all fear, anxiety, and foresight,
Trusting in the Beloved,
Laying down one's being
Fully into their arms, fearlessly.
Action or confirmation bias doesn't exist
In a world where love means humble submission
To the All-loving one.
Mighty he is, but gentle and tender
With those who lean on him.
Stress has no place, strain is replaced,
Suspicion cannot reign in that interface
Where devotee meets His loving deity—
Like an ice cream that melts away in coke
In a Coke float, I call it I-scream-soda.
As God's man, he forgave humanity;
As humanity, he offered himself to God.
Seated at God's right as His right-hand man,
Still he intercedes for all his αδελφόι
Until they overcome the evil one,
To be his bride—unwrinkled, undefiled,
Willing to be grasped by him
As they grasp his nature step-by-step.
Love of Jesus, poured in full measure
Into their inner beings, lights their path
As they bless to be a blessing for all life,
Swallowing death by living lives that bless
The weak, the sick, the hungry,
And do not neglect orphans, widows, deformed, destitute.
Blessing even the enemy, they lift off the curse
Of the dusty humanity,
By imparting life and lifting death away
In everyday lives,
Knowing fully well that when he comes,
Jesus will lift them up from their graves,
And they will outlast this evil age.
Oh, what beauty it is to be grasped by love only,
When love draws near,
Losing all fear, anxiety, and foresight,
Trusting in the Beloved,
Laying down one's being
Fully into their arms, fearlessly.
Action or confirmation bias doesn't exist
In a world where love means humble submission
To the All-loving one.
Mighty he is, but gentle and tender
With those who lean on him.
Stress has no place, strain is replaced,
Suspicion cannot reign in that interface
Where devotee meets His loving deity—
Like an ice cream that melts away in coke
In a Coke float, I call it I-scream-soda.
My dear friend, if you live in life in him,
You will be a blessing, lifting curses away
By blessing, loving, and living in loyal care.
Dissolving your being in your groom,
Being his delight for a lifetime,
Loyally sticking to your boundaries,
Cutting loose from sinful ways, the world's temporal delights.
You be heaven's delight and earth's produce
That lights lives to bring immortality to life.
"Well done, loyal bride" is what you hear,
When you know that His love is here to stay,
Not going away, not going away.
Selah.
You are the good he seeks,
He is the good you seek.
When good meets good, the good news is complete.
Your beauty he admires in your smile, laughter,
Anger, sadness, and lively romantic moves.
When you cry, he cries with you;
When you are afraid, he comforts you.
You are his love ποιημα,
Though the world might still hate you.
For oh, what beauty it is to be grasped by love only,
When love draws near,
Losing all fear, anxiety, and foresight,
Trusting in the Beloved,
Laying down one's being
Fully into their arms, fearlessly.
Action or confirmation bias doesn't exist
In a world where love means humble submission
To the All-loving one.
Mighty he is, but gentle and tender
With those who lean on him.
Stress has no place, strain is replaced,
Suspicion cannot reign in that interface
Where a devotee meets His loving deity—
Like an ice cream that melts away in coke
In a Coke float, I call it I-scream-soda.
